A Breath of Fresh Air: Olivia Talley
I cannot even begin to describe how much I love working with Olivia Talley. I wish all the newer models I've worked with could watch her work and take notes. I should probably video her sometime to help educate new models...
After working with some newer and some very brand new models, I find I get tired with having to create and direct every pose. Instead of the model modeling and me photographing, I'm modeling the model and photographing. Working with Olivia is literally a breath of fresh air. She poses herself and changes it up after every couple frames. She gives such variety it makes it difficult to narrow down the finished images. But that is a good problem to have :)
If I need to tweak something about the pose I will. Every now and then I will describe a specific pose for her to try, but for the most part she does her part. She models. She doesn't simply stand in the room and wait for direction.
Olivia is also a bit of a chameleon. When I photograph her it perfectly fits my style and the style of the photoshoot I have set up. But I have seen some of the work she has done with other photographers. The style may be completely different than mine but Olivia is able to embody it. Whether the style is soft and airy, or edgy and dramatic Olivia can work with it and help create something great.
Not only is Olivia an amazing model but she is also a sweet pea. She's one of the kindest models I've worked with, is easy to communicate with, and best of all she is not flaky. Any fashion photographer would be lucky to work with her.
